About the Studio

Maison 191 is an interior architecture and luxury interior design consultancy based in Cornwall and London, specialising in high-end hospitality and residential design.

Our work is defined by narrative — each project tells a story, unfolding through layers of texture, form, and light. We create spaces that feel both timeless and deeply personal, blending craftsmanship with a modern sensibility to evoke a quiet sense of luxury.

From the first concept sketch to the final finishing touches, we bring a creative and collaborative spirit to every project. Our interior design process is grounded in attention to detail, transparency, and a genuine commitment to delivering beautiful results that stand the test of time and within budget.

We collaborate closely with our trusted network of architects, lighting designers, and contractors to shape spaces that feel effortless and authentic. Always open to new ideas, we love working with like-minded creatives and tailor our interior design services to fit each unique brief and vision.

Founder and Creative Director

From the very beginning, Samuel has had a passion for design. Trained as a furniture designer, he co-founded And Then Design in 2008, selling his first collection at Christie’s Auction House and earning a spot as No. 3 Coolest Things in the World by GQ magazine.

His journey then led him into interiors, where in 2014 he joined Shaun Hausman Design to work on the iconic Standard Hotel London, a project that would go on to win multiple awards, including a RIBA National Award.

In 2017, Samuel collaborated with James Lees and Maxime Dion on Camden’s legendary House of KOKO, before continuing to work alongside Pirajean Lees on luxury hospitality projects across Dubai and Mykonos, as well as an exquisite residential project in central London, featured in the February 2023 issue of Elle Decoration.

More recently, Samuel launched the Editions furniture and hospitality collections for Pirajean Lees, celebrating the beauty of British craft and British timbers, and reflecting his dedication to timeless design.

With years of experience and a deep-rooted love for the coast, Samuel was inspired to move to Cornwall. Here, he founded Maison191, a venture that brings together his expertise, creativity, and love for the natural beauty of the sea, crafting spaces and pieces that feel both effortless and exceptional.
